Hellenic Competition Commission – Fine for antitrust infringements in the market for the production and distribution of concrete in Crete

By its unanimous decision No. 547/VII/2012, the Hellenic Competition Commission (HCC) found that the undertakings ΜΠΕΤΑΡΜ Α.Ε, ΛΑΤΟΜ-ΤΕΧΝΟΜΠΕΤΟΝ ΑΕΒΕ, ΡΕΘΥΜΝΙΑΚΗ ΚΡΗΤΗΣ ΑΕ, ΕΥΡΩΜΠΕΤΟΝ and ΜΠΕΤΟΔΟΜΗ ΑΕ, companies active in the production and distribution of concrete in the prefecture of Rethymnon in Crete, infringed Article 1 of Law 703/77 (the national equivalent of Article 101 EU Treaty), by engaging in collusive conduct (price-fixing, limitation of production and exchange of confidential information).

The HCC imposed on the undertakings concerned fines totaling € 94.621, while further requiring that the infringement be brought to an end.  The HCC also decided to issue a warning addressed to the Association of ready-mix concrete and aggregates of Western Crete for their involvement in the infringement.
